Get into St. Jean party mode on the blue line, where a de Castelnau block party will feature an impressive line-up of locals acts (that cross language barriers) including Loud Lary Ajust (DJ set), the Posterz, KenLo, Foreign Diplomats, Syzzors, W. ArtGang Montreal, a new party space on St-Hubert, hosts a pretty sweet St. Jean Baptiste Day party, with a 514 all-star DJ line-up including Poirier, Simahlak, Lexis, Kyou, Sagewondah and Vilify. Hosted by DL Jones. 6524 St-Hubert, 6 p.m., $5 before midnight/$10

Le Ritz is hosting a St. Jean party too, with music by DJs Noah Bick, Xarah Dion and Hua Li and, providing some grub out back, the Winneburger food truck. 179 Jean-Talon W., 7 p.m., free

Though we’re not sure what this month’s edition has in store (and whether it will be in English), the monthly music documentary screening series known as Hot Butter is hosting a Quebec night to mark our fête nationale. Keep an eye on HB’s Facebook group for details. 2109 Bleury, 7 p.m.

Just in time for St. Jean, the Comedy Nest presents the So You Think You’re Bilingual show, wherein franco comics will perform in English and anglos will try their best at French stand-up. The host, of course, is Mike Ward. See the full line-up here. 2313 Ste-Catherine W., 8 p.m., $15/$10 students

In a teaser just ahead of Montréal Complètement Cirque, the Cirque Alfonse is at Olympia to perform Barbu, a spectacle of bearded acrobatics with an electro-traditional soundtrack. 1004 Ste-Catherine E., 9:30 p.m., $31.35–$72.10
