The Vues d’Afrique festival opens with a screening of Aya de Yopougon. Imperial Cinema (1430 Bleury), 7 p.m., $20

Kama La Mackerel hosts the Gender B(l)ender queer open mic at Café l’Artère. The night will feature music, poetry, dance and more. 7000 Parc, 8:30 p.m., free

NYC indie pop band the Pains of Being Pure at Heart play le Belmont with Fear of Men and Ablebody. 4483 St-Laurent, 9:30 p.m., $15/$20

Local band Ought launch their debut LP on Constellation Records, with support from Lungbutter, Skin Tone and DJ Pas Cha. Brasserie Beaubien (73 Beaubien E.), 9 p.m., PWYC

Also launching a record (on VHS!) is Girls in Uniform, with Ramzi and the Wilcox band. Cabaret Playhouse (5656 Parc), 10 p.m., $5
