Valérie Plante on Quebec election: “Supporting Montreal is supporting Quebec”

“The next Quebec election is a crucial moment for making the necessary social choices.”

Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante has released a document outlining what the city want and expects from the next provincial government following the Quebec election on Oct. 3. Plante noted that the city is asking all provincial political parties for “a clear and quantified plan for the green, safe, affordable and prosperous future of the metropolis.”

An outline of the full document highlights Montreal’s expectations.

  1.  Propose a clear vision for Montreal, in line with that of the population.
  2.  Develop a major infrastructure investment plan to respond to the climate emergency and the housing crisis.
  3. Improving equal opportunities in Montreal to prevent violence.
  4. Grant funding to the city corresponding to Montreal’s place in Quebec.
