Mayor Valérie Plante has announced that the City of Montreal will be signing the C40 Urban Nature Declaration, as a commitment to ”put nature and biodiversity at the heart of their divisions.” Plante has encouraged the mayors of other cities to join Montreal in signing the agreement to accelerate the creation of green and natural space.

“By signing the declaration, we commit to ensuring that a third of the city will be green or natural space. We also commit to ensuring that the majority of the Montreal population has access to a green or blue space within a 15-minute walk from their home.”
