Donations to Quebec political parties in 2022 vs. how they’re polling

The Parti Québécois has received the most donations this year, and is polling in last place.

Élections Québec has released the amount of donations received by political parties in the province for the first half of 2022 (up until May 19). With the next provincial election in Quebec set to take place on Oct. 3, we thought it’d be interesting to compare the donation amounts by party with how each corresponding party is polling, according to Qc125. Currently, there exists an almost perfectly inverse relationship between the amount of donations a party has received and where they are polling.

As you can see in the chart below, the Parti Québécois (PQ) is the party that’s received the most donations this year, at $436,278. They are currently polling in last place (9%), behind Québec Solidaire (QS), who’ve received $313,325 in 2022.

The Conservative Party of Quebec (CPQ) sits in second place in donations, and third place in vote projection (15%). The CPQ also has the highest amount of individual donors, at 7,992, with an average donation of $54.73, roughly half that of any other party.

Finally, the Coalition Avenir Québéc and Quebec Liberal Party sit in first and second in vote projection, and third and fifth in donation amounts, respectively.
