Quebec public health director Horacio Arruda has resigned, Legault accepts resignation

Premier François Legault is expected to announce on Tuesday that INESSS director-general Dr. Luc Boileau will replace him.

Quebec public health director Horacio Arruda has resigned. Arruda reportedly handed in his letter of resignation to Premier François Legault, who accepted it. Radio-Canada’s Martine Biron is reporting that Legault is expected to announce tomorrow that Arruda’s replacement will be Dr. Luc Boileau, the director-general of the INESSS.

The letter reads, in part.

“Recent commentary about the credibility of our opinions and on our scientific rigour have undoubtedly caused a certain erosion of public trust. In this context, I consider it appropriate to offer you the possibility of replacing me at the end of the term of my mandate, at least in my role of director of public health.”

—Horacio Arruda
