Quebec minimum wage to increase to $14.25 on May 1, $11.40 for tipped employees

Quebec Premier François Legault has confirmed that minimum wage will be increased to $14.25 on May 1, corresponding to an increase of $0.75 per hour.

The minimum wage for tipped employees will be increased $0.60 to $11.40 per hour.

The new minimum wage corresponds to a 5.5% increase, approximately equal to the rate of inflation, which was 5.2% when last calculated in Quebec.

A cross-Canada survey last October found that almost half the country believes that the minimum wage should be tied the level of inflation.
