Public messages of support and criticism have flooded social media following yesterday’s announcement that unvaccinated adults in Quebec will have to pay a tax. One of the supporters of the concept of an anti-vax tax in Quebec is Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal.

” A health contribution for the unvaccinated: I support this measure, because it is fair and it encourages vaccination. Anything that helps reduce the strain on the healthcare system brings us closer to resuming a return to a more normal life.”

As noted by Antonine Yaccarini, an analyst from the LCN news network political show La Joute, it’s rare for someone from the business world to back a tax. “Rarely do business circles support new taxes,” she said, “but when 10% of the population holds society, and the economy, hostage…”
