Skiifall, Of Montreal and Kallitechnis among Taverne Tour 2022 festival lineup

An abundance of awesome.

The sixth edition of the Taverne Tour music festival will light up small and medium-size venues in Montreal this winter, from Feb. 3–5, 2022. Today Taverne Tour announced its second wave of programming, adding to an already impressive lineup of local bands and out-of-town talents who’ll be playing venues concentrated on St-Denis Street, Mont-Royal Avenue and St-Laurent Boulevard in the Plateau.

Primary among the out-of-towners is Atlanta, Georgia’s Of Montreal, who are playing the city they named themselves after for the first time since 2014, while anti-folk singer Adam Green is coming in from NYC, Edmonton rapper Cadence Weapon and punk/country crossover band Bria (recently signed to Sub Pop) will travel the 401 from Toronto and indie folk trio les Hay Babies are making the trek from Moncton.

Especially notable acts in the local column are Montreal rapper (and Cult MTL November cover star) Skiifall, R&B/soul artist Kallitechnis, hip hop acts Naya Ali, Gazoline and Emma Beko, EBM/industrial duo Brusque Twins, SEULEMENT (ex-Technical Kidman), a sci-fi drone metal project by Thisquietarmy and Voïvod’s Away, Anna Arrobas (“swamp-dredged heartbreak ballads”), indie pop star Maryze, the disco/dream-pop solo project by Sheenah Ko (of the Besnard Lakes, Antoine Corriveau, le Couleur), psych-rock bands Jesuslesfilles and Crabe, post-rockers Yoo Doo Right, disco revivalists Barry Paquin Roberge and prog/psych/kraut rockers Atsuko Chiba.

Taverne Tour organizers Mothland Recordings have put together a handy Spotify playlist featuring artists playing this year’s edition of the festival.
