Eid al-Adha

Valérie Plante: “Eid al-Adha Mubarak to the Muslim community in Montreal”

Eid al-Adha is a four-day Muslim holiday that begins this evening.

Today is Eid al-Adha, the Festival of the Sacrifice (honouring the willingness of Ibraham to sacrifice his son Ismail as an act of obedience to God’s command), which comes on the last day of the Hajj pilgrimage. This afternoon, Mayor Valérie Plante wished the Muslim community in Montreal “Eid al-Adha Mubarak,” and a healthy year ahead.

Eid al-Adha is being celebrated this year from the evening of July 19 until Friday, July 23.

“Eid al-Adha Mubarak! Happy holidays to the entire Muslim community in Montreal. I wish you an excellent celebration in the company of your loved ones, but also a coming year filled with good health, prosperity and precious family moments.”
