Valérie Plante: Encourage merchants in Old Montreal after last night’s destruction

In her second statement regarding the anti-curfew protest/riot on Sunday night (read the first one here), Mayor Valérie Plante encouraged citizens to visit Old Montreal to support the affected businesses there. Plante has confirmed that cleanup crews will be working to repair some of the destruction caused during the riot. The protest began at Place Jacques-Cartier and devolved into mayhem along Notre-Dame Street. Many storefront windows were smashed.

“The teams of Ville-Marie Montreal will clean up the area occupied by the demonstrators last night. I deplore the destruction of certain businesses. I invite Montrealers to visit the area and encourage the merchants of Old Montreal.”
