Quebec is the province with the best mental health during COVID-19

Albertans are reportedly suffering the most.

A new study by Leger Marketing has found that mental health in Canada is almost at its worst since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the number of Canadians claiming that their mental health is very good or excellent resting at 31%. This is the lowest percentage since Feb. 1, when the number of Canadians claiming the same level of mental health was 29%. The study also found that, of all the provinces in Canada, Quebec has the highest percentage of people who rated their mental health as very good or excellent, at 39%.

The province whose respondents were least likely to rate their mental health as very good or excellent was Alberta (19%).

As it states in the legend of the chart above, the “Good” rating is placed with the bottom three category options (alongside “Bad” and “Very Bad”) as part of a standardize scale in academic research. Therefore it is our opinion that this study is a good indicator of the level of positive mental health across Canada, rather than negative mental health.
