Mayor’s deputy chief of staff blames right-wing media agitators for Old Montreal riot

Today Guillaume Cloutier, the deputy chief of staff to Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante, told the out-of-province crew of 18 from Rebel News to “get the hell out of our town,” blaming them for last night’s riot.

“Old Montreal. Throughout the weekend, the provocateurs of Rebel News and Ezra Levant have made a stir with the result that we can see: destruction and vandalism. Get the hell out of our town.”

Members of the out-of-province media organization, which includes professional windbag Ezra Levant, were staying on an AirBNB boat in the Old Port over the weekend. On Saturday, Montreal police broke up their indoor gathering, currently illegal due to public health restrictions. The group then went on an anti-police tirade on Twitter.

In a now-deleted tweet, a former Rebel News reporter (who has started a spin-off alt-right site) shared a message that appears to incite an insurrection:
