Montreal Museum of Fine Arts

Today is due to be another rainy day, but luckily it’s also Montreal Museums Day, an opportunity to soak up some culture indoors, free of charge.

Le Cinéclub: The Film Society presents Michael Mann’s classic L.A. crime epic Heat in 35mm. A rare opportunity to watch (or re-watch) the only good movie in which De Niro and Pacino square off. (We see you, Righteous Kill, and we’re not impressed. And no, The Godfather II doesn’t count.) Cinema de Sève (1400 de Maisonneuve W.), 6:30 p.m. $8, $6 students & seniors

Canadian-born, NYC-based singer-songwriter Jesse Marchant (fka JBM) plays Montreal for the first time since his latest album Illusion of Love was released back in January. Opening are onetime local scenester Edmund Lam (Hexes and Ohs). La Vitrola (4602 St-Laurent), 9 p.m., $10/$13

As seen on this week’s Hammer of the Mods, Foufounes Electriques has a jam-packed heavy metal and punk line up to close off the week, featuring Integrity, Bloodlet, Chokehold and Sect XVX. 87 Ste-Catherine E., 6 p.m., $25/$30

For more concert recommendations, see this week’s edition of Hammer of the Mods.
