From the hairy-knuckled to those with Social Distortion tattoos, this week has something for everyone.

This Wednesday marks Valentine’s Day, or what us single people call “Crying into a 2-litre tub of ice cream while listening to Fields of Nephilim day.” For those of you who won’t be eating sweet and slightly unfrozen treats out of a cardboard carton on Wednesday, there are plenty of gigs happening this week to treat your sweetheart right.

Thursday: If your heart’s desire was to check out Tokio Hotel at Club Soda you will broken-hearted as this gig is cancelled. Fear not! The real man of romance and the dude in Godspeed and Mt. If you’re looking to spend your Valentine’s with a myopic record collecting trainspotter, there is a good chance that special someone will be at the all-vinyl DJ gig hosted by rock and roll hunks Punk Police. This is happening at North Star natch. 3908 St-Laurent, 10 p.m., free

If there is any truth to the rumor that you can tell how good somebody is in the sack by how well they can shake it on the dance floor, then put them to the test at the sultry, soul and swampy R’n’B DJ night Mess Around at Divan Orange. 4234 St-Laurent, 10 p.m., $5

Lovers with hair on their knuckles and not too swift on the conversation front should get to the stoner rock gig at Katacombes with Floating Widget, Vantablack Warship and Dizzy Goth. 1635 St-Laurent, 9 p.m., $12/$10 advance

If you are attracted to those who received Social Distortion tattoos during the great tattoo landslide of ’97, you will want to be at Piranha Bar for The Mahones with ‘Ol School Johnny, The Lookout and those loveable skate brat scamps Hood Rats. 680 Ste-Catherine O., 8:30 p.m., $12

Sunday: Quiet and bookish types will want to be at Sound Central to dig their new coffee machine and burrow deep into the soundscapes of thisquietarmy with the fucked up heaviosity of Squalor. Besnard Laker and general lady about town Sheenah Ko brings her debut solo record into the world at Casa and is asking that everybody beat those winter blahs by dressing up in tropical attire.
