la-petite-floride

An artist’s projection of la Petite Floride

Local artist Miss Teri exhibits her hybrid of Baroque and street-style work in a new show called Rococorrosive, opening today with a vernissage (and running till Dec. 31) at Artgang. (Stick around afterwards for the Over n Over – Departure edition party feat. DJs Lexis, Nico Sé, Kodok and McFerson, 10 p.m., $5.) 6524 St-Hubert, 6–9 p.m., free

[NOTE: This event has been postponed till next week.] Brought to you by la Pépinière, the team behind the summertime pop-up party spot Village au Pied du Courant, la Petite Floride turns a barren corner of Mile End into a fun zone with a skating rink and café/bistro — a risky, weather-permitting endeavour worthy of community support (or curiosity, at the very least). The site opens today and will remain until March 31. 5705 de Gaspé, 5–11 p.m., free

Mile End artist-run centre Articule hosts its annual Feminist Cocktail Party, doubling as a finissage for the closing exhibition Future Memories with, in addition to delicious cocktails, multimedia performances curated by Mothlight from ssurfacing, Mich Cota & James Player, Claustra and DJ Iridaceae. 262 Fairmount W., 7 p.m., $7 or $14 with a drink ticket

A group of Boston-based experimental electronic musicians including Squelcher and Prone bring their On the Highway Losing Feeling in My Hands tour to Montreal with a stop at Plateau arts venue White Wall Studios, featuring analog visual projections by Chris Konopka. 4532 Laval, 8:30 p.m., $5

Local audio mastering startup LANDR is throwing a free party tonight at la Sala Rossa with Voyage Funktastique’s Walla P and Dr. MaD plus Kris Guilty and Bowly aka OJPB. 4848 St-Laurent, 10 p.m., free

Jef Elise Barbara hosts a Madonna vs. Janet dance party. All funds raised at the door will benefit Taking What We Need, a charity organization for low-income transwomen. Bar le Ritz PDB (179 Jean-Talon W.), 11 p.m., $5/$10/PWYC
