The SAT teams up with MUTEK to present a new exhibition of experimental media from Undervolt & Co, opening with a party tonight with the first set of works (the month-long program’s Side A) on view, with Side B going live on Nov. 14. 1201 St-Laurent, 5–10 p.m., free

In the name of “feminist artist love and appreciation,” F Word Montreal and the Fridge Door Gallery screen the 2002 Frida Kahlo biopic Frida, with movie snacks on the side. McGill AUS Arts Lounge (855 Sherbrooke W.), 6:45-9 p.m., price unlisted (probably free)

Also going down between the walls of McGill’s Leacock Building, Media@McGill and the World Social Forum present a free public talk (via video-conference) with NSA surveillance whistleblower Edward Snowden, who will be discussing surveillance within Canada, and answering questions submitted via the Twitter hashtag #SnowdenMcGill. 855 Sherbrooke W. #132, 7 p.m., free

Tonight marks the official world premiere of Prom Queen: The Musical, the true story of gay Ontario teen Marc Hall, who took his Catholic school board to court for the right to attend prom with his boyfriend back in 2002. Check out our interview with Hall here. 5170 Côte-Ste-Catherine, 8 p.m., $32–$51

Fans of blackened punk should make their way to le Ritz to catch Toronto’s HSY and openers Dri Heiv and Garden Snake. 179 Jean-Talon W., 9 p.m., $10/$12

If you’re feeling the need to dance it out on a Wednesday, hit up intimate Plateau nightclub Salon Daomé, where the monthly Kontrast party brings techno, house and various combinations and permutations thereof.
