Montreal Zombie Walk

Spend your Halloween weekend in horror at the Alt Hotel, site of the first ever Requiem Fear Fest, a celebration of horror in pop culture with plenty of special guests including the ladies of Evil Dead, Quebec film director Sv Bell, performer the Richard Cardinal and lots more, plus vendors and exhibitors, film screenings and a frightful horror house installation. 120 Peel, 9 a.m.–7 p.m., $25.35–$43.39 per day

Get a jump on next year’s bike season at today’s one-day-only moving liquidation sale at Fitz & Follwell and enjoy 50 per cent off on everything in store — helmets, tires, brakes, even new and used bikes — plus a chance to win a brand new ride from Linus. 115 Mont-Royal W., 10:30 a.m.–5 p.m., free entry

Don’t let the grey weather stop you from participating in today’s annual Montreal Zombie Walk, kicking off with an afternoon filled with activities, live music (by Filly & the Flops and the Hellbound Hepcats), zombie make-up stations by Party Expert, a biergarten by Trou du Diable, onsite photobooth and a costume contest. Place des Festivals (Ste-Catherine & Balmoral), 12–6 p.m., free

A different kind of parade is happening uptown: l’Association Latino-Américaine presents its third annual Day of the Dead procession in Villeray, featuring 20 Catrinas, musicians, dancers, food vendors and more. 7378 Lajeunesse, 6 p.m.–12 a.m., free

Pay your respects to the pre-Internet age home viewing format of choice — the VHS tape — with tonight’s VHS Funeral (note, private link), featuring plenty of VHS video selections from VJ Daniel Rig, performances by Fool’s Paradise, Tyler Reekie & Chris Payne, Dana Dal Bo and more, plus a DJ set by Hua Li. 999 du Collège, #44, 6–11 p.m., price unlisted

There are, of course, tons of Halloween parties happening tonight, among them POP Montreal’s cover-band bash at the Rialto, Yelpoween at the W, Notre Damned Decay at NDQ and Necromancing the Night Away at Nomad Live.
