There’s only a few days left to enjoy the summertime downtown activity zone Jardins Gamelin. Today you can get your groove on at a lunch hour dance party with Piknic Électronik alum BSLC (Jerome Guilleaume) sharing a selection of jazz-influenced electronic jams. Corner Ste-Catherine E. and Berri, 12–2 p.m., free

Local indie pop/jazz artist San James launches her debut EP No One Changes Overnight with a  5à8 show at Divan Orange. 4234 St-Laurent, 58 p.m., $5

As part of this week’s Festival of Syrian Cultures, the photo exhibition Syrian Eyes of the World opens tonight with a vernissage at Ville St-Laurent’s Boisé library. 2727 Thimens, 6 p.m., free

Check out tonight’s opening performance of award-winning choreographer Aurélie Pedron’s La Loba for Danse-Cité, a production that sees 12 dancers appear and disappear through a network of small rooms, creating micro-performances for small segments of the audience, so each spectator has a completely unique experience. 3700 Berri, 7 p.m., $28.50

Canadian West Coast rapper SonReal plays le Fairmount tonight with Toronto’s Clairmont the Second and Montreal’s own Matthew Chaim. 5240 Parc, 8:30 p.m., $20

Stompin’ alt-rock-electro-orchestral-folk-soul artist Michael Bernard Fitzgerald throws everything into his upbeat compositions in the studio, so it’ll be fascinating to see how all that energy and sonic whirlwind will translate to the stage. (Not that this is a highlight of his catalogue, but his cover of Bieber’s “What Do You Mean” is definitely worth a listen.) The Calgary artist plays Divan Orange with opener the Middle Coast, from Manitoba. 4234 St-Laurent, 9:30 p.m., $15
