For the uninitiated, and for those who don’t get out to the East-End neighbourhood often enough, get a load of the Hochelaga at the back-to-school Ontario Street sale, featuring loads of vendors and activities including a ICW wrestling match at Place Valois from 2–4 p.m. Ontario Street from Darling to Pie-IX, 10 a.m.–8 p.m.

Mile Ex record store and café 180g is throwing a first anniversary party, with DJs Walla P, le Laitier + J Totes and 2gz + Stram, plus cocktails, cold beer and BBQ (vegetarians BYO veggie stuff to throw on the grill). 6546 Waverly, 12–11 p.m., free

Weekly (seasonal) outdoor dance party Piknic Électronik is going down by the Place de l’Homme monument on Ile Ste-Hélène, with half a dozen DJs bringing Montreal’s little side island to life, including Misstress Barbara, Enfants Malins and Cassandria Daiva. Meanwhile, in the city, Mile Ex art/event space Never Apart hosts the final Day Play party of the season, showcasing music from Multi Culti Records including label head Thomas Von Party. 7049 St-Urbain, 3–9 p.m., $10

Overload your senses at Freak & Fabulous, “a freak show hybrid of all things weird,” featuring a burlesque performer walking on glass, a Human Pin Cushion, flesh-hook suspension, a snake charmer, gory clowns and more circus acts as well as live music, live tattooing and a Rock Your Ink tattoo contest. Bonus: free cupcakes and cotton candy. Le Belmont (4483 St-Laurent), doors 9 p.m., show 10 p.m., $15/$20

Down at Newspeak, les Samourais des Jungles Urbaines and Moto Made cohost what promises to be a hot show featuring Montreal rapper CJ Flemings, a DJ set by Husser (from the Posterz) as well as Big Dreams, Kazz and DJ Deleon. 1403 Ste-Elisabeth, 10 p.m., $10 in advance/$15 at the door
