Kanehsatake Powwow 2015

A’shop teams up with environmental NGO Soder to host an all-day free block party near the Mile Ex bike path, with over a dozen artists like 123Klan, Fleo, Axe, Zek, Five8, Earth Crusher and more live painting a collective 200-metre long mural, plus rap freestyling and breakdancing performances, food, demos and activities for kids and lots more. Beer lovers take note — this weekend, a group of Quebec microbreweries are taking over the TOHU site with the three-day beer tasting festival IBU (Immersion Brassicole Unique). Get to know your local beer purveyors in a festive atmosphere complete with games, food and drink tastings, fun activities and performances from an impressive lineup of DJs (today you can see J.u.D., John Lee, Voyage Funktastique, Noyl, the Holy and CRi). 2345 Jarry E., 12–11 p.m., $12–$15, continues to Sunday

Ever been to a First Nations Powwow? Head down to Kanehsatake (today or tomorrow, though tomorrow’s looking stormy) for the annual cultural festival, featuring traditional food, dance, vendors and family-friendly activities. 681 St-Philomène, Kanehsatake, 12–7 p.m.

Alexandraplatz’s outdoor market Marché de Nuit is back with local artisan vendors, food trucks on site including Dasfoodtruck, Lucille’s Oyster Dive, Duck Truck MTL and more, plus tunes all day from DJs Bowly Ojpb, Riohv and Tam Ika. 6731 Esplanade, 2–11 p.m., free
