Into horses? Horse & human circus company Cavalia is back in town for their Odysseo show (starting June 17), and today the horses will be in Old Montreal for a promotional photo-op at Champ-de-Mars. Anyone who posts pics from today’s preview with the hashtag #OdysseoMTL will be entered into a contest to win tickets to the show. 275 Notre-Dame W., 12 p.m., free

There’s only one show happening on this first day of the FrancoFolies festival, but it’s a big one, featuring Radio Radio, Pierre Kwenders, Pierpoljak and Alfa Rococo. Ste-Catherine & Jeanne Mance, 6 p.m., free

As the Fringe Festival kicks into high gear, Fringe park opens up for all your beer-drinking, ticket-buying, entertainment needs. Tonight’s opening show features live music by Socalled and Tech Weak. St-Laurent & Rachel, 6 p.m., free

Mile End’s le Gare hosts Foodies Night, an event showcasing local food of the “innovative and healthy” variety. (Note that registration is mandatory.) 5333 Casgrain #102, 6 p.m., $10

Cult MTL’s June cover girl Tranna Wintour presents Trantasy, the second in her stand-up/cabaret series for the Fringe Festival. The Wiggle Room (3874 St-Laurent), 8  p.m., $12
