Jonathan Reid Sévigny

Local illustrator and artist Jonathan Reid Sévigny launches his killer first book The Sweetsburg Archives, a collection of otherworldly drawings that tell an imaginative tale of smalltown Quebec life. Formats (2 Ste-Catherine E.), 5:30–8 p.m., free

Straight from the slums of Shaolin (which are supposedly gentrifying), the Wu-Tang Clan (minus Ol’ Dirty Bastard) forms like Voltron at Olympia, with local opener K6A. 1004 Ste-Catherine E., 7 p.m., $62.50–$100

Teams of artists battle it out live at the Beaux Dégâts art mash-up, feat. DJs Construct, Bevvy Swift and Wally. Foufounes Électriques (87 Ste-Catherine E.), 7 p.m., $5

Lexicographer Tom Howell launches The Rude Story of English, an epic tale of English’s foul beginnings (see our chat with Howell about swearing here). Librairie Drawn & Quarterly (211 Bernard W.), 7 p.m., free

Check out The Peopl’s Comedy, hosted by Freddie James, with sets by Dan Derkson, Trana Wintour, Brad MacDonald, Rodney Ramsey and Jess Salomon, not to mention headliner Mike Paterson. Club Peopl (390 Notre Dame W.), entrance on Ste-Hélène, 8:30 p.m., $10

Local DJ/playa RYAN Playground plays En Cachette’s Lucky You with Tronald Trump and Yung Gayance. 1765 St-Denis, 10 p.m., free
