Mondkopf, tonight at Usine C

Read the Rant Line™!

The weather’s hot already, but get in the mood for summer at local swimwear designer Mimi Hammer’s pop-up sale at Atelier B. 5758 St-Laurent, 5–8 p.m., free

Just up the street, Empire Exchange frippe is having its grand opening party. Hit it up for sweet door prizes including limited edition tote bags by Olivia Mew, tasty treats from Preservation Society and Saint Donut, a show by UN’s Kara Keith, DJs and more. 51 Bernard St. W., 5–10 p.m., free

Catch (GR)ONDES, a sound art performance by Étienne Grenier, presented as part of the Elektra Fest. Éco-musée du fier monde (2050 Amherst), 6:30 p.m.

This may be hard to believe, but kids are doing more than sharing selfies on Snapchat. Tonight, as part of Equitas’ Speaking Rights initiative, more than 100 young folks will get together to talk about how they’re encouraging diversity and respect in their neighbourhoods. Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal (185 Ste-Catherine W., Salle Beverley Webster Rolph), 6–8 p.m.

The fourth annual One Take Super 8 film festival, as its name suggests, invites filmmakers to submit work in the beloved old-school format, shot in one take. The fest has an element of surprise: everyone, filmmakers included, will be seeing the work for the first time. La Sala Rossa (4848 St-Laurent), 7:30 p.m., $8

It’s opening night for Field & Flight, an original one-woman show that explores the decline of age from a biological perspective. Mainline Theatre (3997 St-Laurent), 8 p.m., $10

Elektra Fest keeps going with two short audiovisual pieces by Louis Dufort and Hugo Arcier, a tribute to Brian Eno with visuals by Trafik design studio and a musical performance by Mondkopf, and a show pairing of visual artist Sabrina Ratté and sound artist Jesse Osborne-Lanthier. Usine C (1345 Lalonde), 9 p.m., $15–$20 UPDATE: THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT
