If you have an interest in human rights and some time to kill online, the National Film Board is screening Last Chance, a doc on LGBT refugees seeking asylum in Canada, for free today through Sunday at nfb.ca.

Check out the launch for J.B. Staniforth’s The Deadly Snakes: Real Rock and Roll Tonight, a book telling the story of the beloved Toronto band for Invisible Publishing’s Bibliophonic series. Drawn & Quarterly (211 Bernard W.), 7 p.m., free

Pypy (members of Duchess Says, Red Mass), Drainolith and Babi Audi play the rock ’n’ roll happening known as Cool Fest at Casa del Popolo. 4873 St-Laurent, 9 p.m., PWYC

The elevated craft fair that is Smart Design Mart gets underway today, and, coincidentally, our fourth print edition launches at the same time. So come and have a drink and watch as some Cult MTL editors hold court while others do their thing behind the turntables. 5505 Casgrain, 5–9 p.m., free admission

Check out our complete listings for more great club, stage and gallery events.
