It’s Buy Nothing Day, so, uh… don’t buy anything! Éco-quartier NDG will be more than happy to provide you with an elastic to symbolically close your wallet for the day, otherwise known as Black Friday in the U.S. They’ll be distributing them and information leaflets outside Vendôme metro today. Go find ‘em if you want to volunteer (or if you just need an elastic). Vendôme metro, 11 a.m.–2:30 p.m., free (duh)

There’s a party tonight to celebrate Jamie Q’s new book of screenprints, The Possibilities Are Endless, the artist’s first release with a formal publisher after over a decade’s worth of amazing self-published and DIY work. The evening also inaugurates Q’s exhibit of the same name, featuring images from the book. Monastiraki (5478 St-Laurent), 5 p.m.

Celebrate a quarter century of Plateau record store l’Oblique, hosting free shows by local bands today and tomorrow. As a bonus today, some Black Friday deals. 4333 Rivard, 7 p.m., free

Infinithéâtre presents The Pipeline, a series of play readings by the audience. Tonight, see Guy Sprung direct playwright Oren Safdie’s Unseamly, a work about morality in the international clothing production chain. Bain St-Michel (3300 St-Dominique), 7 p.m., PWYC/$10 suggested donation

Neo-soul guru GIZMO is playing a rare local show, collaborating with saxophonist Casey Benjamin as part of NY@PHI. PHI Centre (407 St-Pierre), 8 p.m., $12

Neil Young has long been rockin’ in the free world, and tonight he and the trusty Crazy Horse will do just that in our fair burgh, with assistance from the indomitable Patti Smith. Bell Centre (1260 de la Gauchetière W.), doors 6:30 p.m., show at 7:30 p.m., $68-$201

First-wave punk fans, come see one of Montreal’s flagship punk bands, the Normals! Sonorama (260 Bernard E.), 7 p.m., free

One-man band Bloodshot Bill’s back in action tonight, along with burlesque friends Capital Tease and blues buskers Jitterbug Swing. And if you ain’t never seen Bloodshot Bill before, you gotta see this. La Sala Rossa (4848 St-Laurent), 9 p.m., $12
