MTL Sketchfest with Tongues / Diaspora Darlings & Erica Gellert

Saturday, May 11 , 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

TONGUES (MTL)

Tongues is a zesty, all lady/enby sketch group from Montreal comprised of long standing improvisers and theatre makers. They’ve been seen at other sketch festivals such as Toronto Sketchfest, New York Skechfest, and were the recipient of MTL Sketcfest’s best new troupe award for 2023. Tongues brings quick wit, bold characters, and a metric truck ton of puns to the stage exploring all kinds of experiences like our emotional baggage, girly pop demons and much more comedy goodness that will tickle your taste buds. It’s gonna be feral.

DIASPORA DARLINGS (MTL)

In the 2010 World Cup anthem ‘Waka Waka,’ pop superstar Shakira declares ‘This time for Africa’ and thus Diaspora Darlings was born!! Diaspora Darlings is an all African sketch comedy troupe created by Portia K, Mbissine, Guled Abdi & Sara Meleika. They premiered their hit show ‘Gu Paul’s African Race’ at the Toronto Fringe, and have gone on to perform at the Toronto Sketchfest. They are so pleased to be back home at Theatre Sainte Catherine for Montreal Sketchfest.

ERICA GELLERT (TO)

Erica Gellert is a Toronto based comedian and writer. She has performed in JFL42 and various comedy festivals across North America since 2016. She is an alumni of the Canadian Comedy Award winning sketch collective, the Sketchersons. In 2023, Just For Laughs awarded Erica at the Montréal Sketch Comedy Festival for her solo sketch comedy performance. She frequently performs live comedy around Toronto and loves a good wig.
