Marguerite: la pierre

Marguerite: la pierre

Saturday, May 7 , 12 p.m. to Monday, Jun 6 , 6 p.m.

The PHI Foundation presents, in collaboration with Productions Onishka and the Centre du Théâtre d’Aujourd’hui (CTD’A), the soundwalk Marguerite: la pierre.

Soundwalk

Led by artist Émilie Monnet, Marguerite: la pierre is based on the life of Marguerite Duplessis, the first person to be enslaved and the first Aboriginal person to have fought legally for her freedom in New France. While traces of this past still mark the stone facades of Old Montréal, Émilie Monnet’s voice and those of four guests take us on an encounter with Marguerite Duplessis and our history.

Guided Tours and Conversation

The PHI Foundation, in collaboration with Productions Onishka, presents a mediation program to contextualize the Marguerite: la pierre soundwalk. The programme consists of two guided tours and a “Conversation about Marguerite.” The two guided tours, one on May 7 and the other on May 28, 2022, will accompany Marguerite: la pierre. Artist Émilie Monnet, the education team of the PHI Foundation and a guest will be present to present the soundwalk and discuss it with visitors. In addition, during a roundtable discussion entitled “Conversation autour de Marguerite,” Émilie Monnet will talk about her creative process in the company of two collaborators. This conversation will be recorded by the PHI Foundation and broadcast on its website and social networks.

The Multidisciplinary Triad Marguerite

The soundwalk is accompanied by a podcast series entitled Marguerite: la traversée and a stage version Marguerite: le feu which will be presented at Espace Go from March 15 to April 2, 2022. In addition to this triad, Émilie Monnet will also hold a series of meetings, Émilie tient salon at the Centre du Théâtre d’Aujourd’hui from June 2 to June 4, 2022, around this duty to remembrance.

Soundwalk
Starting at the PHI Foundation, 451 Saint-Jean Street and continuing in Old Montréal. The soundwalk can also be experienced at any time without having to visit the Foundation.
