Digital EP Launch Enracinées dans l’histoire – Vol. 2 by Nadine Altounji

Wednesday, Nov 8 , 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.

With the upcoming release of her next mini-album, Enracinées dans l’histoire – Vol. 2, Nadine Altounji invites us into the cozy antechamber of her captivating melodies. This undeniably introspective opus and resolutely intimate music define her third digital EP. With Enracinées dans l’histoire – Vol. 2, Altounji subtly celebrates her Montréal identity within its rich multicultural diversity. For this launch concert, Nadine Altounji will be joined by accomplished instrumentalists: Assane Seck (electric guitar), Mark Alan Haynes (electric bass), Moïse Yawo Matey (percussion), along with experienced vocalists Claire Morrison and Judith Little-Daudelin.

In anticipation for this EP, Montréal singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist recently launched two singles Dans la folie de nos temps, Petite sœur and a video.

Open Arms Sisterhood to the World

Following her 2nd EP, The Stories That Tie Us To Trees – Vol. 1, released last year, Nadine Altounji continues her exploration of new soundscapes with her upcoming EP. A decidedly feminist approach subtly weaves through Nadine Altounji‘s repertoire, whether with Marcha de Flores (The March of Flowers) addressing femicides, Bint El Balad (Daughter of the land) highlighting the emancipation of expatriate Arab women, or Petite sœur, these songs testify to a crucial sisterhood for the artist.

Rooted in History or the Quest for Self

The new opus, Enracinées dans l’histoire – Vol. 2, continues in the global sound wave, this time in the language of Molière. A delightful blend of Western music, Latin percussion, Middle Eastern sounds, and electronics delicately crafted in a gentle cocoon.

Nadine Altounji embarked on her solo career as a singer-songwriter in 2012. A skilled musician, she excels in guitar and oud. This spring, her song No lo olviden (Don’t Forget) was selected for a compilation of the renowned New York label Putumayo World Music.

With nearly thirty concerts as a solo artist under her belt, she’s performed in Paris, Seoul, Cusco, Abidjan, Urubamba, Mazunte, Vilcabamba, Ottawa, and Montreal.  After a recent appearance at the Folk Music Ontario Official Showcase, Nadine Altounji will perform on November 14 at the Bistro des découvertes in Sudbury.
