Viral video of racist rage in Montreal raises concern about climate of hate in Quebec

A complaint is being filed with the SPVM by a LaSalle family who were berated by a local man last week.

A viral video of a racist rage incident in Montreal, depicting a man ranting at LaSalle residents who are presumably of Southeast Asian descent (and telling them to “go back to India or Pakistan”), is raising concern about a new climate of hate in Quebec in the wake of Bill 21.

The video was recorded on Aug. 11 and posted today by Red Coalition, who say they will be assisting the family that was the target of the verbal attack in demanding that a “hate incident investigation” be conducted by Montreal police.

“This video is filled with extreme hate based on the language they speak and their ethnicity.”
