Montreal NBA player Lu Dort to launch youth wellness foundation

Maizon Dort aims to improve the lives of underserved kids in Montreal, Oklahoma City and Central Arizona.

NBA player and Montrealer Lu Dort will be launching a youth wellness foundation called Maizon Dort at his second annual Lu Beast Camp in Montreal this weekend. The non-profit organization aims to improve the lives of underserved kids in his hometown of Montreal, Oklahoma City (where he currently plays with the Oklahoma City Thunder) and Central Arizona (where he played college basketball with the Arizona State Sun Devils).

“These communities have made me the player and person that I am today. With the platform I have now, I want to do as much as I can to give back and make sure kids and families from underserved communities are afforded equal opportunities and support to go after their dreams.”

Maizon Dort will focus on promoting health and wellness and provide opportunities for kids to be active in team sports such as basketball and soccer.

“Not only did basketball and soccer allow me to be healthy and active as a child. These team sports also kept me in a safe environment and on the right path to success. I learned principles such as hard work and teamwork that carry over to many aspects of my life today.”
