Quebecers good shape financially canada financial anxiety

77% of Quebecers say they’re in good shape financially, the most in Canada

“Financial anxiety is not evenly distributed across the country.”

A study on inflation in Canada has asked Canadians across the country about their current level of financial anxiety. According to the Angus Reid Institute, 72% of people in Canada say they are in good or great financial shape, with Quebecers most likely to agree, at 77%.

Residents of Manitoba (40%) and Saskatchewan (36%) were those most likely to be experiencing financial anxiety. Just 60% of Manitobans say they are in good or great financial shape.

“The story of the summer is inflation. Statistics Canada announced the Consumer Price Index rose 8.1% year over year in June, the largest annual increase since January 1983. One of the major sources of this inflation is gasoline, but even when that is removed from the CPI, inflation is recorded at 6.5% in June. According to the Bank of Canada, there is no relief in sight. Inflation isn’t expected to return to 2% — the target set out by the BoC — until the end of 2024.”
