Quebec expected to announce closure of schools and bars, effective Tuesday

Restaurants and daycares will remain open.

Radio-Canada is reporting that Quebec is likely to announce the closure of schools and bars as well as mandatory work-at-home, effective Tuesday. A public health press conference is scheduled for 1 p.m. this afternoon.

“Barring a last-minute change,” Radio-Canada sources said, either all primary and secondary schools will be closed as of Tuesday, or schools that have completed vaccinations and distributed rapid tests will remain open. In either scenario, daycares across Quebec will remain open.

All bars and taverns will be closed but restaurants will be permitted to remain open until 10 p.m. A source close to Cult MTL is reporting that cinemas will also be closed.

Santé Québec is reporting 4,571 new cases of COVID-19 across the province, another daily record since the start of the pandemic.
