Mundial Montreal 2020: A window on the new world music

The annual world-music showcase is on this week.

From Nov. 23 to 24, the 2020 edition of the Mundial Montreal music festival — a sister festival of M for Montreal, which showcases local, Canadian and international artists for delegates all over the world — is taking place online. The program is structured into 10 scheduled Discovery Spotlights, with interviews and videos followed by live Q&A sessions with the artists. The 2020 artists will be featured in the official selection of the 2021 edition of Mundial Montreal.

This year’s program includes Montrealers Nidal Ibourk, Sophie Lukacs and Mateo as well as Toronto acts Emmanuel Jal and Baklava Blues and Winnipeg’s Leonard Sumner. The international contingent includes Nohe & Sus Santos (USA), Puuluup, Bab l’ Bluz (France) and Elkin Robinson (Colombia).
