The sixth edition of old-school booze-fest la Cuvée — that is, a local beer and hard liquor festival with sounds and aesthetics borrowed from the 1950s — begins with Jeudi Gin-Gin, a party where six portions of Quebec gin will be poured for $20. Toronto-based painter Darby Milbrath (who’s also a contributor to The Editorial Magazine) launches a new solo exhibition called The Flowering Songs with a vernissage at the Belgo’s Projet Pangée featuring her nostalgic, fluid expressionist works that recall her west coast childhood among orchards, gardens and old homes. 372 Ste-Catherine W., 5:30–8:30 p.m., free

Now that the warm glow of Valentine’s Day is long over, it’s time for some juicy and hilarious break-up stories at tonight’s edition of Tinder Tales: March Break-Ups hosted by Emma Wilkie at the Wiggle Room where headliners Troy Stark and Shirley Whalen will dig deep with stories of their most devastating relationship-enders alongside special guests Bill Wood (Picnicface), John Cotroc, Joé Russell, James Elias Island and an exclusive Tinder Tales improv troupe. 3874 St-Laurent, 8:30 p.m., $15/$10 in advance
