Join Dare to Care Records as they take over the Darling Foundry’s open-air Bar Éphémère, complete with a BBQ, cocktail bar and a live set from Trulyors, plus DJs Enfants Malins and Debbie Doe. 745 Ottawa, 5–11 p.m., free

Artgang hosts a vernissage for the group exhibition Et Après? (What Next?) featuring work by Axe, Barzolff “Numéro 6”, ElDiablo, Jean “Turf” Labourdette, Miss Me, Popay, Ran, Stare, Tchug and Zore (running through Aug. 7), and an afterparty bash to segue into the long weekend, with music by DJs Monsieurlouis, Nico Sé, Kodok, Low Pocus, Kyou, Rrkelly, Walla P, Lexis, Funky Falz and Sagewondah. 6524 St-Laurent, vernissage at 6 p.m., party at 10 p.m., $5 after midnight

Villeray’s two-day St-Jean Baptiste weekend celebration begins with a free evening concert featuring Mara Tremblay, Safia Nolin and Colectivo, plus a giant chess game, inflatables for kids and other family-friendly stuff, plus bars and food kiosks. Don’t miss your chance to see stand-up comedian Jon Bennett’s acclaimed show Pretending Things Are a Cock, with the first of three shows on tonight at ComedyWorks. Part stand-up routine, part travelogue and part phallo-centric photo slideshow, the show was developed from Bennett’s experiences over three years of globetrotting and has been a festivals like the Edinburgh Fringe and Just for Laughs since its debut. 1238 Bishop, 8:30 pm., $15
