Rainbow Drag

Rainbow Drag

Montreal record stores Beatnick and Aux 33 Tours have teamed up to organize their own record convention and it’s happening today in the basement of the Plateau church where events such as Expozine are held. 5035 St-Dominique, 10 a.m. (8:45 a.m. for early-birds), $5 entrance fee/$12 for early-birds

Stop by Mile End artist-run centre Articule for a full day of activities as part of this weekend’s Montreal Monochrome IV Study Hall programming. The three-day event explores ways artistic practices can influence knowledge production and education with activities like today’s artist talk, beading workshop and manga collection launch party. 262 Fairmount W., 11 a.m.–10 p.m., free

Rainbow Drag is a sight to behold, and tonight the performer (recently spotted by Cult MTL during burlesque superstar Dita Von Teese’s Montreal show) hosts a Souper Spectacle gig at Mile End showbar Mademoiselle. 5171 Parc, 6 p.m., $30

The Brunch Club’s Liar Liar Show isn’t your average stand-up comedy night — it’s a storytelling game show where the audience determines who’s telling tall tales. Comedyworks (1238 Bishop), shows at 8:30 and 10:30 p.m., $10/$15

Montreal synth-pop gang Young Galaxy play SAT with their Falsework-tour dancers, topping a bill that also promises live sets by Graham Van Pelt’s techno project Inside Touch and Wake Island, plus DJ Frankie Teardrop and visuals by Push/Stop and AZYL. 1201 St-Laurent, 9:30 p.m., $15

Don’t miss your chance to dance to the sounds of innovative Nigerian-American producer Chino Amobi, founder of the NON Worldwide network of artists using sound to decolonize, liberate and unite the African diaspora. Rounding out the lineup will be Yves Tumor (frequent Mykki Blanco collaborator) plus locals Kallisti (d’Eon) and DJ Love, hosted by Babi Audi in collaboration with Never Apart. Alexandraplatz (6731 Esplanade), 10 p.m., $15
