Happy Groundhog Day! I don’t think we need a rodent to tell us that it’s cold as fuck and winter isn’t close to done. But for those of you willing to brave today’s winter conditions, here are some suggestions for you:

Gather up a few pairs of warm socks and bring them to the Plateau’s Little Lost Sock Laundromat, offering free laundry every day this week in exchange for donations of socks and/or cash for the homeless. You can even grab a cup of some of the best coffee in town while your skivvies are in the spin cycle — the friendly buanderie shares its space with Café l’Artiste Affamé. 3690 St-Denis, 10 a.m.–8 p.m., free

Cinema Politica screens Out in the Night, a documentary about the experience of four young black queer women charged with assault for defending themselves from a homophobic aggressor in New York City. 1455 de Maisonneuve W. (H-110), 7 p.m., by donation

Lighten up your Polar Monday night with one of two weekly comedy offerings: There’s Something Funny Going On at the Blue Dog Motel (3958 St-Laurent, 9 p.m., PWYC) and The 902 Comedy Show at Donair Cité (2070 St-Denis, 8 p.m., PWYC)
