The esplanade outside of Olympic Stadium becomes an outdoor winter paradise called Hivernale every Friday and Saturday all winter long, with ice skating, a bar and rotating chefs with a labo culinaire, plus DJs — today’s program includes DJs Daox, Driss Skali, the Doctors and Ostrich, with a special Oslo-themed menu by Bethlehem XXX’s Beaver Sheppard. Activists across the country are fighting back against the environmental destruction that comes with fossil fuel exploration and transportation. Come to Chez Boris to hear a first-hand account from one of New Brunswick’s frontline anti-shale fracking activists Ann Pohl with a Report From the Eastern Door. 5151 Parc, 7 p.m., free

Montreal and Toronto music scenes collide as experimental pop act Petra Glynt and balladeer Luka play with Montreal experimental dream-pop act Dreamboy and the Walls Are Blonde, a Toronto psych-folk band that recently moved to MTL. The Plant, 10 p.m., $5
