L’Amour à Minuit: A Labor of Love (1976)

Making any type of movie is a difficult feat. Making an indie porno with an inexperienced crew and actors is even more difficult, it’s A LABOR OF LOVE. For the first time, L’Amour à Minuit presents a documentary: the making-of The Last Affair (1976), what was initially an arthouse film that later had to include hardcore sex scenes in order to appease their distributors. What resulted was a venture in amateur filmmaking, in all its messy and sticky glory.

Synopsis: Incentivized by their financiers, the filmmakers of The Last Affair opted to include hardcore sex scenes in a would-be art house film, despite neither the director nor the actors ever having worked in pornography. What ensues is a series of incidents with cast and crew, frustrations, improvisations, and malfunctions–as you would expect from an indie film set.
