Journal Safar Issue #8 – Montreal Launch Party

Safar, a design and visual culture journal that was created to remedy the dearth of critical discourse on design in the global south is launching its 8th issue, Tongues, in Montreal! 

Comprised of eight different muscles, the tongue takes center stage in this issue. From speaking in tongues to translating them, from tasting with them to the intimate ways we use them, Tongues explores the moments that get lost (and sometimes found) in translation. It maps tastes and taste buds, chews over when to hold one’s tongue (and when not to), considers slips of the tongue, and engages with lost mother tongues—all while embracing the tongue’s many facets, including its role in ululation.
