It’s the 40th edition of Montreal’s Carifiesta parade, bringing loads of eye and ear candy from Caribbean cultures to the downtown core. Ste-Catherine from Fort to Phillips Square, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.

Celebrate the Calgary Stampede from afar with a free all-day pancake breakfast with live country music at Théâtre Sainte Catherine, followed by a night of stand-up and sketch comedy featuring Alain Mercieca, Morgan O’Shea, Beans on Toast, Hot Raw Fire and Tall Tall Lady. 264 Ste-Catherine E., breakfast from 12 p.m., comedy from 7 p.m., free

Local artist collective Oh Hi presents an evening of entertainment at Mile End’s Marché des Possibles, with live music by Smokes, Bantam Wing, Wake Island, Year of Glad, Saxsyndrum, Camp Forture and Molly Sweeney. Outside 5635 Ste-Dominique, 6:30 p.m., free

The Mundial Montreal festival hosts an off-season party to kick off the Weekends du Monde outdoor music series, featuring Kid Koala’s Vinyl Vaudeville, the Poirier Sound System with Face-T and Fwonte, Valérie Daure and Samito. Parc Jean-Drapeau, 711 p.m., free

Music Is My Sanctuary celebrates eight years of parties with a major rager at the Jazz Fest featuring BadBadNotGood with Ghostface Killah at Metropolis (see our interview with BBNG, about their Ghostface collaboration, here), and an afterparty following the show with DJ Lexis. 59 Ste-Catherine E., 8:30 p.m., $33–$38.20, free after 11:30 p.m.
