The Barr Brothers

Peace Park is the place to be Tuesday evenings this summer, with activities organized by the neighbouring SAT including skateboard jams with a BBQ and DJs, followed by an outdoor film screening. Skate on down tonight for tunes by DJ the Furious One and stick around after dark to see Back to the Future (in French). Peace Park, St-Laurent between Ste-Catherine and René-Lévesque, skate jam 6–9 p.m., screening 9 p.m., free

The Phi Centre screens Jauja, starring Viggo Mortensen as a Danish national who arrives in 1880’s Argentina with his 15-year-old daughter in the midst of a brutal colonial war. When she runs away, he goes in search of her through the visually stunning wilderness of Patagonia. See the trailer here. 407 St-Pierre, 7:30 p.m., $11.25/$9.25 students

So you know, it’s a ’90s nostalgia explosion at the Bell Centre, where the reunion tour of all-grown-up boy band New Kids on the Block will be dropping in, with openers Nelly and TLC (RIP Lisa “Lefteye” Lopes). 1909 Canadiens-de-Montréal, 8 p.m., $58.50–$104.50

Tuesday nights are comedy nights at NDG’s Shäika Café with Daniel Carin and Chris Sandiford of Ladies & Gentlemen, plus special guests Viveth Kanagaratnam, Ozzie Elyashiv and Sarah Stupar. 5526 Sherbrooke W., 9 p.m., free

Montreal’s own Barr Brothers play the the Jazz Festival’s main stage, where a massive crowd is due to wedge itself in between Jeanne-Mance at Balmoral, Ste-Catherine and de Maisonneuve. (Tip: standing at the Jeanne Mance exit of PDA gives you a decent stage view, and quick escape. Tip 2: Don’t Jazz and drive, ever.) 9:30 p.m., free

Also happening tonight at the Jazz Fest, former Slum Village member and younger brother of late hip hop legend J Dilla, one Illa J (who’s now a Montrealer most of the time), is playing the Bell stage. Clark & de Montigny, 10 p.m., free
