Fringe Park is the site of Lunch Beat, a midday meal and dance party featuring DJ A-Rock on the turntables and lunch by Soupesoup (for vegans and carnivores alike). Later on, CJLO presents a line-up of bands including Heathers, Kurvi Tasch and Towanda. St-Laurent / Rachel, Lunch Beat 12–1 p.m., $10 includes lunch, free without lunch. The NDG Food Depot launches a new initiative called the Good Food Market, taking place just outside the Depot every Friday beginning tonight. The market will feature fresh, local produce at an attractive price, plus workshops, guest chefs, live music and other activities. Join the team behind the .dpi feminist journal of art and digital culture at Studio XX to say goodbye as they launch the project’s final issue, titled Queer Networks and guest edited by Mikhel Proulx. 4001 Berri, #201, 5–9 p.m., free

Mile End’s Marché des Possibles returns for its second summer of weekend shindigs, with a launch featuring performances by Country, Dead Man Get Up and Henri-Pierre Noël, plus the food, drinks and goods by local artisans that will be part of the weekly spread. Poirier’s doing double duty tonight, playing his monthly Qualité de Luxe night at la Marché à Côté with Kyou and Mr. Touré (5043 St-Denis, 10 p.m., $4 before midnight/$7) and then heading down to the FrancoFolies midnight party in the Shag (aka Savoy) room at Metropolis (59 Ste-Catherine E., 11:55 p.m., free).
