Sunken Sounds and the HOMEmade Collective are teaming up for a series of bangers at Galt. The GALT (Great Artists, Local Talent) Sessions kick off tonight with Halifax band Wet Paint (performing as a live band) and Montreal producers Dead Horse Beats, Robert Robert and Hotahota. 1232 de la Montagne, 9 p.m., $5 before 11 p.m., $8 after

Among the shows happening as part of the Mutek festival tonight is a free outdoor show in the Quartier des Spectacles entitled Experience 2: Glittering Neu-stalgia, featuring the retro-futurist sounds of Racine, Project Pablo, OJPB (presented by Bowly) and Khotin. Additionally, head to Parc Lafontaine this weekend for the fourth edition of the Montreal Comic Arts Festival, kicking off today with dozens of exhibitors, workshops, book signings and more, plus special celebrations for Drawn & Quarterly’s 25th anniversary. Espace La Fontaine, 1–8 p.m., continues through Sunday, free

A brand-new print and online magazine also launches tonight with a party featuring special treats and performances. Yellow Noise is a platform for artistic and political expression, self-representation and points of view from Asian youth living in the west, with a mandate of solidarity with other under- and mis-represented groups. The launch party features performances from Kai Cheng, Lady Sin Trayda, Tina-Hanäé and more. 1421 Montcalm, #200, 6–10 p.m., $5 suggested

It’s a big double-header night at Montreal Sketchfest, with early show headliners Peter N’ Chris (Vancouver), the three-time Canadian Comedy Award winning duo who are contributors to CBC’s The Irrelevant Show and College Humor, plus a chance to see Montreal’s Ladies & Gentlemen (see our interview with the pair here) and Toronto’s Falcon Powder in the late show. Finally, League of Lady Wrestlers Montreal presents Castlemania: The Birth of Queendom, a wrestling show featuring “kick-ass drag queens, washed-up mermaids, and glamourous superbeings,” with music by NOIA and DJ Frankie Teardrop.
