Don’t miss your chance to stock up on goodies from local fashion labels Atelier Wonder and Lafaille at a one-day-only pop-up shop at Aux Vues (check out our recent profile of Atelier Wonder here). 783 Bienville, 10 a.m.–9 p.m., free

Local authors are showing their love for independent booksellers today in bookshops across town at Authors for Indies Day. At Argo Bookshop downtown, join Melissa Bull, Dean Garlick, Marko Sijan and more to chat about your favourite books (1915 Ste-Catherine W., 11 a.m.–8 p.m.). Over at the Word in the McGill Ghetto, participating authors include Anne-Marie MacDonald, Heather O’Neill, Norman Nawrocki and more (469 Milton, 11 a.m.–6 p.m.).

More bookstore love is in the air for today’s Free Comic Book Day, in which you can pick up a free comic book and enjoy snacks and other surprises at Mile End’s Drawn & Quarterly (211 Bernard W., 10 a.m.–7 p.m.) and St-Henri’s Crossover Comics (3568 Notre-Dame W., 11 a.m– 6 p.m.).

It’s going to be a mighty fine day to spend outdoors, so head to NDG for the first edition of Porchfest to see nearly 60 bands perform from porches and balconies all across the neighbourhood. Check out our feature on the fest here. Various locations in NDG, 12–4 p.m., free

Former AIDS Wolf punks Chloe Lum and Yannick Desranleau make up the visual arts team Séripop, and are currently longlisted for the 2015 Sobey Art Prize. Head to the Belgo today for the vernissage of their new show, The Face Stayed East the Mouth Went West (Elements) at Galerie Hugues Charbonneau. 372 Ste-Catherine W. #308, 3–5 p.m., free

There are quite a few good shows happening tonight, but le Fairmount will be the site of two of the best: Brooklyn producer (of what she calls “mermaid music”) Tei Shi with Fragile Feet at 7 p.m., and San Jose DJ/producer (and Stones Throw Records founder) Peanut Butter Wolf with DJs Lexis and Walla P at 11 p.m. 5240 Parc, $15 (each)
