Xavier Dolan and Anne Dorval on the set of Mommy

Anglos, check out Mommy, the new Xavier Dolan movie you’ve seen advertised in bus shelters all over town. It’s Canada’s Oscar contender for Best Foreign (language) Film, and Cinéma du Parc is screening it with English subtitles (you will probably need them, unless you’re 50/50 bilingue). 3575 Parc, 1, 3:45, 6:30 & 9:15 p.m., $12/$10 for matinees/young adults 13-25 & seniors

Voted the city’s #3 Best Comedian by our readers in the 2014 Best of MTL readers’ poll, Tranna Wintour headlines Blue Dog’s weekly stand-up comedy night, There’s Something Funny Going On. 3958 St-Laurent, 8:30 p.m., PWYC

Fink is both British singer/DJ/producer Fin Greenall and the trio he leads, playing an indie folk/blues style popularized on their 2011 album Perfect Darkness — check out the title track here. The opener at tonight’s show at Café Campus is fellow Brit singer-songwriter Douglas Dare. 57 Prince-Arthur E., 8:30 p.m., $20

Philly-born, Olympia-bred Brooklyn resident Mirah has been part of the American indie/DIY scene since the ’90s, releasing music on labels like K Records and Kill Rock Stars, and earning a following with her beautiful voice and experimental pop sound. Tonight she plays Casa del Popolo with opener Death Vessel, aka Providence RI singer-songwriter Joel Thibodeau. 4873 St-Laurent, 9 p.m., $14
