Ile Soniq — Evenko’s dance music/hip hop festival, happening at Parc Jean-Drapeau this weekend — has its kick-off party this evening, with DJs Anna Lunoe, Treasure Fingers, Jay London and Senudiz. Due to weather, the location has changed from the Old Port’s Victoria Pier to Apt. 200. 3643 St-Laurent, 5–11 p.m., $10/$15

The Mascara & Popcorn short film festival launches its 2014 edition with a Black Carpet event featuring trailers, burlesque performers, raffles, Etsy vendors and karaoke. Bistro de Paris (4536 St-Denis), 5:30 p.m., $15

The Visions film series screens six short films by three Canadian filmmakers, who’ll be present to discuss their work. Expect “life after death, heritage and home, political histories and concrete-filled sunsets.” 6029A Parc, 8 p.m., free/donations suggested
