Under Pressure gets a head start on their weekend with the first festival-affiliated event, Beaux Dégâts #22, which will see six teams of artists go head-to-head, with the audience choosing the winning team via a foolproof empty-PBR-can ballot system. The Qouleur Festival presents From Zero to Future (and all in-between), a selection of screenings of films made by 2QTPOC artists exploring themes of gender, identity and culture. Studio XX, 4001 Berri, 7 p.m., free

The Resonance Reading Series brings together a line-up of local writers and poets, including Rawi Hage, Leigh Kotsilidis and Anna Leventhal, to share their works in their own voices. 5175A Parc, 9 p.m., free

L.A. synth-pop band Wildcat! Wildcat! are so new, they haven’t even released an EP yet — their debut physical is out Sept. 10 on Downtown Records. But they sound pretty promising to us, enough to recommend their show tonight at la Vitrola.
