As part of Encuentro, Cinema Politica are presenting a week-long film series “Creativity, Colonization, Contestation: Indigenous Cultures and Peoples of the Americas on Screen and Stage.” Tonight they screen a Jeff Barnaby double-bill in his presence. Rhymes for Young Ghouls, about an aboriginal teenager’s revenge plot against a sadistic Indian agent, and File Under Miscellaneous, a short film set in a dystopian future where Natives undergo gruesome surgery to fit into the dominant white culture. Catch the vernissage for NEXT, an exhibition featuring work by 19 up and coming artists, at l’Arsenal. 2020 William, 6–9 p.m.
